Meet the Team

Dr. Tony Abdilmasih

Dr. Tony Abdilmasih

Owner and Chiropractor

Dr. Tony Abdilmasih is a proud Edmontonian who founded Glenora Chiropractic Clinic in 2003. Following his own struggles with injuries related to hockey and soccer he experimented with various therapies. He was impressed by the effectiveness of chiropractic, sparking his desire to help others in their own recoveries.

Dr. Tony completed his studies towards a Biological Sciences degree at the University of Alberta then continued on to San Jose, California to earn his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. His residency and thesis focused on sports injuries with emphasis on shoulder and hip rehabilitation. He also has had extensive training in motor vehicle accident rehabilitation. Always interested in furthering his knowledge base, Dr. Tony strives to incorporate the newest techniques and advancements in the field while continuing to update his education with emphasis in physical rehabilitation and biomechanics.

Dr. Derek Strachan

Chiropractor

Dr. Derek Strachan is a Chiropractor and a fully certified Graston Technique provider. He was born and raised in Edmonton, attended the University of Alberta, and was accepted into the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) after three years of post-secondary study focusing on anatomy and physiology. Dr. Strachan offers chiropractic care, soft tissue therapy, biomechanical analysis, exercise therapy, and custom foot orthotics; all of which not only facilitate the treatment of the symptomatic area, but more importantly the root cause of the symptoms in each of his patients.

During his internship at CMCC, Dr. Strachan practiced under the Vice-President of the College of Chiropractic Sports Science, and had the privilege of treating many sport-related injuries in high level athletes. After four years in Toronto, Dr. Strachan returned to Edmonton to begin practicing in his home community.

Robert Thom

Robert Thom

Physical Therapist, , BSc., MScPT

Born and raised in Calgary, Robert recently moved to Edmonton to join the Glenora Chiropractic & Physiotherapy team. He attended Queen’s University where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences. While attending Queen’s, Robert rowed competitively with the varsity men’s eight and four where physiotherapy was vital in managing ongoing low back pain and shoulder injury to maximize his performance.

Robert completed his Master of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Alberta. He enjoys helping individuals to live their best life and get back to the activities they love. His current interests include running and cycling, and he is a member of the Edmonton Metropolitan Chorus.

Robert offers comprehensive posture assessment and movement analysis, therapeutic exercise prescription, manual soft tissue therapy, mobilization techniques and shockwave therapy. His approach seeks to relieve pain and discomfort while also emphasizing proper movement patterns to prevent possible future injuries. He is also engaged in the exploration of new treatment modalities which combine physical rehabilitation and the cutting edge of regenerative medicine.

Kandavel Shanmugam

Physical Therapist, PT, BPT

Kandavel has been working as a Physical Therapist since 2000 after completing Bachelors in Physical Therapy in India. Since then, he has worked in hospitals, private clinics, LTC and fitness facilities. He has completed Alberta Internationally Educated Physiotherapists Bridging Program from University of Alberta in 2014 after moving to Canada. He has done certification in Functional Dry Needling (IMS) and Acupuncture in Canada and Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT), which includes Mulligan, Maitland, McKenzie and McConnell concepts in India. He is interested in treating shoulder, spine and knee injuries with a combination of manual therapy, IMS/acupuncture and functional exercises to help his patients return to their normal activities of daily living. When he is not working, he loves to spend time with his 5-year-old daughter and he enjoys playing cricket, badminton and soccer.

Paula Wilson

B.P.E., R.M.T., Massage Therapist

Paula graduated from the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Alberta and then completed the Massage Therapy program at Grant MacEwan University. She has been practicing massage therapy since 1997. Paula lives in the neighbourhood runs through it daily. She is happily married and has two wonderful children.

Brittany Wilkowski

Brittany Wilkowski

Acupuncturist & Kinesiologist

Brittany is a registered Acupuncturist with the CAAA, and Kinesiologist. Her focus is stress and pain management, musculoskeletal injuries and whole body inner balance.

Brittany first attended her undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta-Augustana Campus, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Kinesiology. During her time at Augustana, she competitively curled on the women’s team. It was when she injured herself on the ice, and was treated with acupuncture, that her career was headed in the Acupuncture rehabilitation side of healing.

Brittany then headed to Grant MacEwan where she completed a diploma in Acupuncture. After graduation she completed the registration exams, and is a Registered Acupuncturist within the College and Association of Acupuncturists in Alberta (CAAA). She has complete courses focusing on musculoskeletal injuries and pain management through the Sports Medicine Acupuncture series. These courses utilize different needling methods including intra-muscular stimulation (IMS) into motor points to help treat muscle sprains, strains and imbalances. With her previous kinesiology background, Brittany also offers broad knowledge of stretching and exercise therapies to both treat and prevent injuries, in addition to diet and exercise recommendations.

Brittany is excited to continue her future goals and further her education in more Sports Medicine Acupuncture courses, women’s health and Reiki.

Gail Kudelik

Gail Kudelik

Office Manager

Gail has a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Resource Studies. Before working in the clinic, she was a researcher and editor for The Canadian Encyclopedia. This job allowed her to support her two children in their various activities and volunteer at area schools. Gail is a long-time resident of the Grovenor/Glenora area and she appreciates having the quality chiropractic care provided by Dr. Tony. After her children grew up, Gail looked for a job in the service sector and found a new but familiar roll supporting the practitioners at Glenora Chiropractic and Physical Therapy. She enjoys interacting with the patients and strives to ensure they have a welcoming and caring experience at the clinic.
